A significant political shift is underway in Budadiri West as six aspirants from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) gear up to contest for the parliamentary seat long held by Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi.
After 25 years of service, Nandala Mafabi announced he will not seek re-election in 2026, choosing instead to focus on his bid for the FDC party presidency.
This marks a historic moment for Budadiri West, which has known no other MP since 2001.
Nandala Mafabi’s influence and legacy have shaped the political landscape of the constituency, earning him a reputation as one of Uganda’s most vocal opposition leaders and a fierce advocate for accountability and good governance.
His decision to step aside has opened the door for a new generation of leaders within the FDC to step forward. So far, six party members have expressed interest in succeeding him.
While the official FDC primaries are still months away, the constituency is already buzzing with grassroots mobilization, community engagements, and strategic alliances.
