Award-winning Ugandan singer Eddy Kenzo is set to thrill fans at the closing ceremony of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, slated for Saturday, August 30, at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya.
The tournament, which kicked off nearly a month ago, will wrap up with a highly anticipated final between Morocco and Madagascar. But before the football showdown, music will take centre stage — with Kenzo leading the celebrations.
Despite Uganda exiting the competition early, the Big Talent boss will proudly fly the national flag as one of the event’s headline performers. Known for his infectious energy, signature dance moves, and inspirational hits, Kenzo’s invitation is seen as recognition of his growing influence across Africa.
With chart-topping songs such as Tweyagale, Sitya Loss, and Weekend, Kenzo has consistently showcased Ugandan talent on the global stage. His performance at CHAN adds another milestone to his illustrious career.
Kenzo will share the stage with Savara from Kenya — formerly of the celebrated group Sauti Sol — and Tanzania’s Zuchu of Wasafi Records, in what organisers describe as a “musical celebration of East Africa.”
The performance also ensures Uganda’s presence at the grand finale of a historic CHAN edition, co-hosted for the first time by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Beyond football, the tournament has been hailed as a landmark for regional unity through sports and entertainment.
