Salvado Blames Fellow Comedians For The Downfall Of Uganda’s Comedy Industry

Stand-up comedian Patrick Idringi, popularly known as Salvado, has come out to express concern over the decline of Uganda’s comedy industry, placing the blame squarely on the comedians themselves.

“To be sincere, comedy collapsed. We comedians are responsible for our downfall. We are disunited, and we have no umbrella that unites us,” Salvado said.

Known for speaking his mind, Salvado emphasised the urgent need for unity among comedians, lamenting the absence of a formal structure to guide and support the industry.

According to Salvado, the lack of solidarity and coordination among comedians has contributed to the erosion of the respect the comedy scene once commanded. He pointed out longstanding issues such as poor organisation and inadequate funding, which have hindered the growth of emerging talent.

His comments have sparked widespread discussion among fans and fellow comedians alike, many of whom agree with his sentiments. There have been renewed calls for the establishment of a national comedians’ association to promote collaboration and professionalism within the industry.

As one of Uganda’s most prominent comedy figures, Salvado’s remarks have brought to light a deeper issue that industry insiders say must be addressed to rejuvenate the local comedy scene.
