Ugandan-American artist Apollo BW is lighting up stages with his infectious Afrobeat sound, capturing hearts with soulful lyrics, the Ugandan-American artist Apollo BW is turning that spotlight toward a cause close to his heart by giving premature babies in Uganda a better chance at life ,spotlight toward a cause close to his heart.

As one of the most exciting crossover acts to emerge from East Africa, Apollo BW has quickly become the face of AfroPop’s next global wave. But beyond his rising fame and hit singles like “Personal Person,” “On The Low,” and “Ise Ninawe,” Apollo is channeling his growing platform into powerful acts of kindness proving he’s not just an artist, but a humanitarian with purpose.

Recently, Apollo visited the Neonatal Unit at Mbale Regional Hospital, where he donated vital asorted items, baby supplies, and money. His aim is to support mothers of premature babies many of whom travel from remote villages without food or basic necessities.

“Imagine going to the hospital pregnant and returning home without a baby,” Apollo said during his visit. “I cannot imagine that pain. Mothers are the future we have a responsibility to support them.”

Apollo says that his donations are not about charity, expression of dignity to humanity. He explains that Good maternal nutrition, is critical to the survival of newborns, especially those premature babies. “If we want these babies to live, we must nourish their mothers first,” he added.

His admiration also extends to the neonatal staff, whom he praised for their selflessness and relentless commitment. “These doctors aren’t driven by money. When supplies run out, they give from their own pockets. That’s real passion that’s real care.”

Thanks to the efforts of specialists like Dr. Kathy Burgoine and Dr. Martha Muduwa, the hospital’s neonatal unit has seen a remarkable drop in infant mortality from 48% to 21% through improved systems and training.

In a bid to raise awareness and break cultural myths around premature birth, ApolloBW is currently working on a documentary that will spotlight the realities of neonatal care in Uganda. “These are real babies with real futures. They deserve care not stigma or superstition,” he said.

This isn’t his first step into philanthropy. Last year, Apollo quietly donated to Born on the Edge, a psychological support group helping mothers of preemies share stories, heal, and empower one another emotionally.

Whether through music, storytelling, or philanthropy, Apollo BW is redefining what it means to be a modern African artist bridging worlds, saving lives, and using every stage he steps on to elevate both sound and society.
