Tanzanian music super star Diamond Platnumz has opened up about a deeply personal part of his life—revealing that the man he once believed to be his father is not his biological dad.

For many years, it was widely believed that Abdul Juma was the Bongo Flava singer’s father. However, in a recent interview on an American radio show hosted by Angela Yee, the Wasafi boss, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul Juma, shared that his true father was a man named Salum Iddi Nyange.

The Nanzaaje crooner explained that growing up, he often felt out of place at Juma’s home. “I never felt as loved or welcomed there as the other children,” he said. His mother Sandra also reportedly never got along with Juma’s family.

Apparently, the turning point for the singer came when his maternal aunt confided in him. Without Sandra’s knowledge, she revealed the truth and urged Diamond to seek out Salum at the local market.

“I was hesitant, but I went. When I told him who I was, he embraced me, gave me some money and household items. That’s when I felt a true father’s love for the first time,” Diamond shared emotionally.

Sadly for Diamond Platnumz, Salum passed away a few years ago. In 2021, Diamond’s mother confirmed that Abdul Juma was not the biological father during a radio talkshow. She stated that Juma only accepted Diamond after fame arrived.

Although Diamond has tried to support Juma, he admits the bond isn’t the same. “He expected the same treatment as my mom, but that’s not possible. My connection with her is different,” he added.

This revelation has touched many fans, showing a side of Diamond not often seen—one filled with pain, healing, and acceptance. Despite the hardships growing up, the singer has risen through the challenges to become one of the best singers of his era on the African continent.
