Kampala University’s (KU) woodball team has once again proven its dominance on the continental stage, returning home triumphantly with the coveted title from the Taifa International Woodball Championship.
The prestigious event, held in the vibrant town of Thika, Kenya, brought together top-tier talent from across Africa for its fifth edition.
The Gabba-based institution showcased a powerful performance throughout the tournament, competing fiercely against 12 other elite clubs.
The KU team rose to the occasion, securing an impressive seven out of the 12 gold medals that were up for grabs — a feat that solidified their place at the summit of African woodball.
Team captain and coaching staff lauded the players’ discipline, preparation, and resilience, which played a key role in their commanding success.
The tournament not only served as a platform for competition but also for cultural exchange and regional sportsmanship, with teams from East, West, and Southern Africa in attendance.
The win is expected to further inspire the university’s sports department and attract fresh talent into the sport.
