Legends Rugby Grounds, commonly known as Legends, a sports and entertainment hub, has closed its doors.

The news was confirmed in a public notice shared by the management, citing the expiration of the venue’s lease on Plot 1 & 3 ,Sports Lane, Lugogo.

The happening hangout is said to have been officially taken over by city businessman Stanslas Isiagi, owner of ForestMall Lugogo.

The lease that expired was held in the name of Daniel Kaggwa, a member of Rhino Rugby Club.

Based on the reports that we have so far gathered, it is said that Isiagi acquired the venue last year, at a fee believed to be summing up to USD 4M (estimated to be Shs14 billion).

Reports reveal that Isiagi intends to redevelop the place by setting up a swimming pool and a hotel.

Legends Rugby Grounds started its operations in 2010, and quickly gained momentum since it was the place to hang out after Kyadondo had been shut down following the Kampala twin bombings.

The venue played a crucial role in hyping Rugby since it served as the home ground for Kobs, Rhinos, Panthers, and Rams.

Those who have been chilling at the venue have often been enjoying its ambience and the food, which tasted nice.

Its closure leaves behind a wealthy legacy and lasting impression on Uganda’s sports and social life.
