On Saturday evening, Letaru Mercy Jovia, a 24-year-old from Moyo District, was crowned Miss Tourism West Nile 2025 during a glamorous event held at Leisure Park in Adjumani District.

The competition was part of the ongoing regional Miss Tourism Uganda search, which is taking place across the country and will culminate in the national grand finale on September 5, 2025, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Letaru outshone several other contestants to take home the crown. Endredru Stacy Tanyi, also 24 and from Moyo District, was named 1st runner-up, while Lekuru Eron, 20, from Arua District, was announced as the 2nd runner-up.

The evening featured a vibrant display of cultural wear and a Q&A session with judges, focusing on domestic tourism and how the contestants would market Uganda as a prime tourism destination to the international audience.

The national winner will be crowned Miss Tourism Uganda 2025/26, taking over from the reigning queen, Atino Lucky Bianca.

The Chief Guest, Hajjat Medina Naham Ojale, Director for Administration and Finance at the National Resistance Movement (NRM), commended the Miss Tourism West Nile team for its role in mentoring young girls and giving them a platform to grow and make a difference. She urged the community to fully support the initiative and pledged her continued support for the regional queens as they prepare for the national stage.
