Ugandan musician and budding politician, Buken Ali a.k.a. Nubian Li, is at the center of a storm following a string of unusual Facebook updates allegedly posted by his wife, Shiko Mutoni. The posts, which hinted at a possible breakup, have left many questioning the state of their union.
In one striking update, Shiko declared:
“FROM TODAY I’M SINGLE. THIS MARKS THE END OF MY RELATIONSHIP.”
Another post read:
“Whenever you see your friends attacking your wife, just know you’ve given them that authority. A wife simply leaves her man so that his friends can help him find the right woman.”
The cryptic messages quickly fueled speculation of a separation, though some close observers suggested her account may have been compromised.
What makes the matter even more intriguing is what followed. Shortly after the supposed breakup posts, Shiko’s page shared a campaign poster for Paul Mugambe, Nakawa’s sitting Mayor and her political boss. Shiko currently serves as Deputy Mayor of Nakawa, while Nubian Li is preparing to contest for the same seat under the National Unity Platform (NUP). Mugambe was recently sidelined by the party in favor of Nubian Li, a close ally of NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine).

This twist has raised eyebrows, with some linking the Facebook drama not only to personal issues but also to political tensions.
Nubian Li and Shiko have shared a long-term relationship and officially wedded in 2021 in a star-studded ceremony graced by family, friends, and fellow politicians.
At the moment, however, the authenticity of Shiko’s posts remains uncertain. Were they the outburst of a frustrated partner, or the work of political schemers? Either way, the saga has sparked heated debate on how politics continues to seep into the private lives of public figures.
