Singer Rebecca Kukiriza, popularly known as Chosen Becky, is a singer in the news. The 25-year-old mother of 4 is in the limelight for a public engagement to her official photographer, Abdul Sekajja.
On Tuesday, August 5, the two lovebirds stunned the public when the photographer, Abdul, went down on his knee and proposed to the singer in a glamorous function graced by family, friends and media.
For some in attendance, the engagement provided a lightbulb moment. At the beginning of 2025, when the rumour of the pair’s romance swirled, Chosen Becky and her now estranged ex-husband and manager, Dictator Amir, threatened to sue vloggers who peddled the narrative.
In truth there was an ‘office romance’ going on. Chosen Becky, just like Baby Gloria, had fallen in love with someone working behind the scenes. Any big news? Not quite. It is something the celebrity world has embraced, with bigger stars like Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, Kate Moss and many more having embraced it.
Chosen Becky, in her speech, was a portrait of relief. She cried. She later clarified that those were tears of joy. She spoke like one who wasn’t torn between two lovers but one who had found that one person missing in her life. Sekajja is the knight in her shining armor.
“When I faced life challenges, he chipped in with counselling sessions and helped me stay mentally stable. I was in an abusive relationship, and he gave me reason to believe in myself again,” she said. She was later to encourage Sekajja, a graduate in psychology, to pursue photography so he could capture picture-perfect moments that melted her.
As Sekajja wormed his way into Chosen Becky’s heart, she confessed to confiding one thing to him. She told him there was a man she once needed and loved (Dictator Amir), but it never meant she loved him (Sekajja) less. There was an empty space inside of her that only he (Sekajja) could fill. He had to bide his time and play along. And just like that, borrowing National Unity Platform (NUP) foot soldiers’ jargon, the two connived to chase a ‘dictator’!
The split
According to multiple sources online, Chosen Becky and Dictator Amir went separate ways in January 2025, four months after she gave birth to her fourth and purportedly second of Amir’s children. All the while, there had allegedly been unrequited love for the couple that lived apart.
Claims abound that Dictator Amir once visited Chosen Becky’s home in Budo and chanced on their photographer getting regal treatment in their bedroom.
A brief scuffle ensued which led to Amir storming off in jest. Social media in-laws were vehement in encouraging him to do DNA on Becky’s last child. The swirling rumours have only intensified the public’s fascination with the couple’s tumultuous relationship.
As speculation mounted, Dictator Amir went quiet and has since thrown his weight behind a fast-food chain business.
Enter the perfect man.
Beaming with joy and excitement, Becky was full of sweet words and praise for her lover, thanking God for blessing her with a perfect man, who is so loving and caring.
She went on to claim that he is the reason behind her glow and happiness. She also disclosed how Sekajja helped her shoulder the burdens she was facing as a single mother, making them a walk in the park.
“My man loves me like no other and has vowed that I’m the only woman in his life. He has been my everything and the reason behind all my happiness. People have been wondering why I have been glowing lately, but he carried all the burdens I have been facing. Including providing for what to feed my children at home. Even before we made it official, he provided, sending a bag of sugar, rice and chicken occasionally.
When he was sweet-talking me, he asked me to love and stick with him for 70 years. When they elapse, it is okay to part ways, but as of now, I promise to stick with him for 100 years,” she noted.
